Frequently Asked Questions about Wedding and Family Photography
Wedding Photography FAQ
How much does wedding photography cost?
Full day wedding coverage starts at $2,200. Pricing varies based on the details of your day. Reach out to talk through your date and what you have planned.
What is included in a wedding photography package?
Full day coverage from getting ready to the dance floor. That means getting ready, the first look, family introductions, the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and speeches, cake cutting, and dancing. Your photos are delivered within 8 weeks via a private online gallery. The best results always come from a well planned day, and when the day flows well, the story tells itself.
How long until I receive my wedding photos?
Most galleries are delivered within 6 to 8 weeks of your wedding day.
Is a deposit required to book?
Yes. A non-refundable 50% retainer is required to reserve your date. Your date is not held until both the signed agreement and retainer are received.
Will you be the photographer at my wedding, or will you send someone else?
Always me. Every wedding I book, I shoot personally. You will never show up on your wedding day and meet someone you have never spoken to.
What happens if you have an emergency on my wedding day?
In the unlikely event of an emergency, every reasonable effort will be made to find a qualified replacement photographer. If that is not possible, all fees paid will be refunded in full.
Do you bring a second shooter?
I shoot solo, but for larger weddings I strongly encourage adding a second shooter to the day. More guests means more moments happening at once, and a second set of eyes makes sure nothing gets missed. It is something we can talk through when you reach out.
How far in advance should I book my wedding photographer?
It depends on your venue, location, and the size of your wedding, but a good rule of thumb is to book your photographer second, right after your venue. Most couples book anywhere from 6 to 18 months out. Popular dates fill up quickly, so the earlier you reach out the better.
Do you have a contract?
Yes. Every wedding booking is covered by a signed service agreement that outlines coverage, deliverables, payment terms, and everything else you need to know before your day.
Family Photography - FAQ
How much does a family photo session cost?
Family sessions start at $250. Reach out to talk through what you have in mind and we can go from there.
How long is a family photo session?
Most sessions run between 45 minutes and an hour. Weather, location, and the light at the end of the day can all play a role in how the time unfolds.
Where should we do our family photos?
I have a lot of go-to spots across the Capital Region and can suggest locations based on where you are or how far you want to travel. If you have a place in mind, I may steer you toward something similar that I know works well with the light and space. The goal is always to find somewhere that feels right for your family.
What should we wear for family photos?
Keep it simple and coordinated without being too matchy. Neutral tones and layers tend to photograph well. Avoid busy patterns or logos. Most importantly, wear something everyone feels comfortable in.
How many photos will we receive?
For a full hour session, you can expect a minimum of 50 final edited images.
How long until we receive our photos?
Most family galleries are delivered within two weeks of your session.
What if it rains on the day of our session?
Ultimately the call is yours. I will always lean toward better weather for better results, but I also understand that schedules do not always allow for flexibility. We can reschedule or push through depending on what works best for your family.
How do you keep kids engaged during a photo session?
I encourage parents to loosen up and let kids be themselves. The less pressure put on kids to perform, the more their real personality comes out. Some of the best moments happen when everyone stops trying to pose and just plays. That energy is what we are really after.
How far in advance should I book a family session?
There is no major lead time needed for most of the year. That said, fall and the holiday season book up fast. If you are thinking about an October session or holiday photos, reach out a few weeks earlier than you normally would.
Can we do a holiday or seasonal mini session?
I offer private holiday sessions where your family still gets a full, unhurried experience. These sessions are a little more structured with a clear purpose, but you are never sharing the time with a queue of other families.
